AEW Dynamite finished third among cable originals on Wednesday while attracting its largest audience since October.
The January 25th edition of the show from Lexington, Kentucky, averaged 1,003,000 viewers and approximately 417,000 (0.32) in the 18-49 demographic, per Wrestlenomics and Showbuzz Daily.
Dynamite’s audience grew by 3.5 percent this week with the 18-49 audience increasing by 4 percent. The key demo included males rising by 11 percent which offset a 4 percent drop among females in the demo.
It finished third among cable originals behind the two NBA games on ESPN and went head-to-head with the Brooklyn Nets vs. Philadelphia 76ers that averaged 1,461,000 viewers and 0.53 in the demo. Dynamite edged out MTV’s The Challenge that did 635,000 viewers and 0.31.
There was minimal fluctuation among the other key demographics as adults 18-34 increased by 3 percent and adults 35-49 were up by 5 percent.
It was Dynamite’s largest audience since the three-year anniversary show on October 5, 2022, which was the last time the show averaged over one million viewers.
In Canada, Dynamite averaged 124,000 viewers and 67,500 in the 25-54 demographic on TSN 2. The numbers increased by 4 and 9 percent respectively from last week and achieved its largest Canadian audience for Dynamite since Sept. 7, 2022, for the episode following All Out. This week’s episode ranked eighth among sports programs on Wednesday.
For the month of January, Dynamite averaged 951,000 viewers and 396,000 (0.31) in the demo over four episodes on TBS.
This week’s episode was headlined by a tribute match for the late Jay Briscoe (Jamin Pugh) involving his brother Mark and Jay Lethal.
Immediately following Dynamite, TBS aired the second episode of Dana White’s Power Slap, which was roundly criticized coming out of its premiere last week. This week’s follow-up averaged 413,000 viewers and 0.13 in the 18-49 demographic with a 40 percent increase in viewership from last week’s premiere. The second episode ranked #30 among cable originals with the demo jumping from 0.10 to 0.13.
