After topping last week’s cable ratings on their night, AEW Dynamite fell to its lowest numbers of the year.

The February 16th edition of the show from Nashville averaged 869,000 viewers and approximately 406,000 (0.31) in the 18-49 demographic, according to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics and Showbuzz Daily.

The decrease from last week was 23 percent in viewership and 25 percent in the 18-49 demographic, although Dynamite still finished third behind the NBA among cable originals.

It was their lowest marks since moving to TBS at the beginning of the year and lowest audience since December 1st of last year, which did the same amount in the 18-49 demo.

Dynamite faced competition from the Brooklyn Nets vs. New York Knicks that finished second on cable with 1,257,000 and 0.42 in 18-49 on ESPN, South Park on Comedy Central, and coverage of the Winter Olympics on NBC and the USA Network.

Among the most significant decreases from last week were males 18-34 that dropped by 38 percent this week while 18-34 overall was down by 31 percent. Females 35-49 dropped by 35 percent with women 18-49 dropping by 28.5 percent this week.

The show was promoted around a TNT championship match between Sammy Guevara and Darby Allin and came one day after the major news broke that Cody & Brandi Rhodes were leaving the company. One may have thought the Rhodes’ news would have helped the number with the people tuning in to see if AEW would address their departures, which they did not.

We have not received the viewership figures yet for Canada.
