AEW Dynamite Grand Slam tops cable rankings, down from last week's episode

AEW’s Grand Slam event from Arthur Ashe Stadium was the top-rated show on cable for Wednesday, although fell from last week’s figures.

The September 21st event from New York averaged 1,039,000 viewers and approximately 458,000 (0.35) in the 18-49 demographic, according to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics and Showbuzz Daily.

The show ranked first among cable originals ahead of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (0.32), Tucker Carlson Tonight (0.23), and The Five (0.23). The top show on television on Wednesday was CBS’ Survivor airing against the entirety of Dynamite and averaged 5,046,000 viewers and 0.79 in 18-49.

This week’s Dynamite declined by 12% in overall viewers, fell 10% among adults 18-49, and a drop by 6% among adults 18-34.

In the 18-49 demo, it was male viewership was hurt the demo with an 18% loss from last week while females in the drop increased by 7%. It was Dynamite’s lowest 18-49 audience in three weeks.

Dynamite’s older audience fell with adults 35-49 dropping by 13% and adults 50+ going from last week’s high of 0.50 to 0.46 this week.

In Canada, the show averaged approximately 89,000 viewers and 55,000 in the 25-54 demographic on TSN 2, which represented increases of 43.5% and 62% from last week but well below the September 7th numbers following All Out, which were 131,800 and 80,800 in the 25-54 demo.

The first of two Grand Slam specials this week featured five titles match including the crowning of a new AEW champion with Jon Moxley submitting Bryan Danielson, The Acclaimed becoming the AEW tag champions, and Chris Jericho winning the ROH championship.
