AEW Dynamite pulled its strongest numbers in months for Wednesday’s episode featuring Samoa Joe defending the championship.

The January 17 episode from North Charleston averaged 891,000 viewers and 435,000 (0.33) in the 18-49 demographic, per Wrestlenomics.

It was Dynamite’s largest viewership since October 17 and its best number in the 18-48 demographic since the Grand Slam episode on September 20.

The show also hit its largest audience in Canada since last March.

In the U.S., viewership was up by 12% and the 18-49 audience grew by 15% from last week’s figures.

In the 18-34 demographic, the audience grew by 25% to 183,000 which was its highest mark since June 7, 2023.

Adults 35-49 grew by 9% to 252,000 viewers, which was its highest level since Grand Slam last September.

In Canada, Dynamite averaged 167,900 viewers and 72,200 in the 25-54 demographic on TSN 2, which represented increases of 25% and 17% respectively from last week. It was Dynamite’s largest Canadian viewership since March 29, 2023.

For the night, Dynamite ranked fifth among sports programs in Canada.

I think this is more an indication of a solid run of shows by AEW and doesn’t really say a lot about the quality of last nights show, which I thought was just ok.

It does say something about Hook though. I think they have something and also Joe as champion is such a breath of fresh air.

I think the main event mix of Joe, Swerve, Hangman, and event Hook, is exciting. A complete 180 from MJF and his run over the last few months.
