AEW Dynamite sees 12% growth in demo against NBA, College Basketball

AEW Dynamite stayed flat with viewership while rising in the key demographic airing against the NBA and College Basketball.

The Homecoming episode of Dynamite averaged 797,000 viewers and 377,000 (0.29) in the 18-49 demographic, per Wrestlenomics.

The audience was flat week-over-week compared to 801,000 viewers last week while the 18-49 audience was up by 12% and represented a two-week high.

The show aired against the New Orleans Pelicans vs. Golden State Warriors, which averaged 1,577,000 viewers and 0.33 in the 18-49 demo on ABC as well as a college basketball game between North Carolina and NC State averaging 1,097,000 viewers and 0.35 in the demo on ESPN, according to Sports Media Watch.

In the 18-49 demo, female viewership grew 18% from 101,000 to 119,000 and males increased by 9% from 236,000 to 258,000.

Adults 18-34 were up by 8% to 146,000 viewers with growth among both men and women in the demo.

Adults 35-49 saw a 15% boost from last week and females in the demo grew 24% from 55,000 to 68,000 this week.

In Canada, Dynamite increased 20% in overall viewership to 133,9000 viewers and was up 4% in the 25-54 demographic to 61,700 on TSN 2. Dynamite ranked seventh on Wednesday among sports programming and fourth in the demo.

Wrestlenomics reports that the peak quarter for viewership was the opening fifteen minutes for the start of Claudio Castagnoli vs. Hangman Page at 1,001,000 viewers. The peak in the 18-49 demographic was from 8:45 – 9 p.m. with Samoa Joe, Hangman Page, and Swerve Strickland in the ring with 465,000 viewers. The low point of the show in both categories was the final quarter for Sting & Darby Allin vs. Konosuke Takeshita & Powerhouse Hobbs with a minor increase during the five-minute overrun.
