The return of Kenny Omega led to a minor increase for AEW Dynamite but not placing among the top five cable programs in prime time.

The January 8 edition from Clarksville, Tennessee, averaged 615,000 viewers and 227,000 viewers (0.17) in the 18-49 demographic.

These figures do not consider any viewership on the Max streaming service.

Dynamite ranked sixth among prime-time cable programs behind the Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Cleveland Cavaliers on ESPN (0.59), The Challenge on MTV (0.24), Jesse Watters Primetime (0.22), Hannity (0.20), and Fox News At Night (0.19).

The 5% viewership increase from last week was the show’s highest mark of the past three episodes while the demo audience grew by 6%.

Male viewership in the core demo saw an increase of 15% this week averaging 165,000 viewers while females decreased by 13% to 62,000. The female demo was the lowest for that category since November 6.

Adults 18-34 averaged 70,000 viewers, which rose by 13% from last week’s episode. The 35-49 demographic attracted 157,000 viewers, which was a gain of 3%.

The show averaged 82,500 viewers and 35,300 in the 25-54 demographic on Sportsnet 360 in Canada. The overall audience inched out last week’s average of 80,200 and made this week’s audience the largest for Dynamite in Canada since November 13.

I think the fact that numbers on TV have remained stable, and in this case, increased - after debuting on MAX, is a very positive sign, no?

Obviously this could change, but it definitely means there is a group of people who are now watching AEW who weren’t before the MAX launch.

I think the only tangible way to tell for sure is when they sell more live tickets to their shows. Might take a few months to hook fans but if they truly have new fans some of them should start attending shows
