Without the level of cable news coverage, AEW Rampage bounced back with a live episode of the show going into Revolution weekend.
The March 4th edition of the show from Orlando averaged 545,000 viewers and approximately 293,000 (0.22) in the 18-49 demographic, per Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics and Showbuzz Daily.
While it was the show’s highest viewership since February 11th, the 18-49 audience was slightly below the February 18th episode, which aired outside its normal timeslot at 7 p.m. ET.
Last week’s episode of Rampage fell to #46 among cable programs due to the heavy coverage of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This week they went from 0.18 to 0.22 in the demo and jumped to #16 among cable originals.
The last two weeks are unfair comparisons with last week’s heavy news coverage and the week prior airing outside the regular timeslot. Rampage went against the end of the Milwaukee Bucks vs. Chicago Bulls game and the start of the New York Knicks vs. Phoenix Suns, which were the top two cable programs on Friday doing 0.44 and 0.38 in the 18-49 respectively.
The last regular show at 10 p.m. ET was on February 11th and averaged 549,000 viewers and 248,000 (0.19) in the 18-49 demo.
The only demo that remained the same from last week was its 50+ audience, which did a 0.19 both weeks and below what they’ve been averaging this year in that demo.
Overall viewership grew by fifteen percent and the demo jumped by 24 percent compared with last week.
Rampage averaged 88,000 viewers in the 18-34 demo, which destroyed last week’s figure of 45,000 and was Rampage’s highest 18-34 audience since January 21st, which was also a live episode.
This week’s card featured Christian Cage vs. Ethan Page for the final spot in the Face of the Revolution ladder match, and a TNT title match with Sammy Guevara defending against Andrade El Idolo and Darby Allin as the key matches.
The Countdown to Revolution preview show that followed Rampage on TNT averaged 269,000 and 0.08 in 18-49, according to Brandon Thurston. Those figures are down from the last countdown special prior to Full Gear in November that averaged 292,000 and 0.10 respectively.
