El Idolo thanks All Elite Wrestling.

AEW’s final pay-per-view of 2023 was Worlds End and it was on the show that Andrade El Idolo fell in defeat to Miro in singles competition. At the post-show media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan confirmed that El Idolo’s contract was up.

Khan added that as it stands, he does not expect El Idolo to re-sign. He said he has a ton of respect for Andrade.

Taking to his X account, El Idolo thanked AEW for his time with the company. He listed those who he wanted to say goodbye to and added that there’s plenty more he could name. He mentioned that he would’ve loved to face Jon Moxley, Ricky Starks, Powerhouse Hobbs, Dante Martin and others. El Idolo closed by saying he’ll always wish the company the best.

On the night of Worlds End, it was first reported by WrestlePurists that Andrade was expected to finish up with AEW. The site added that a WWE source expects El Idolo to be back in WWE ‘imminently’. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp corroborated the report.

Mostly a waste of time. He had four different managers and zero direction. It was a little amusing when he tried to buy Darby Allin though. Amazing talent in the ring though

Another one for the “matches but will be good, but otherwise meh” list. We’ve got two companies worth of proof for that theory now. But hopefully HHH has more of a plan than Vince or Tony ever did. Though tbh, as they just signed his wife to the largest women’s contract ever, I wouldn’t be shocked if this was just a favor as much as anything.

I agree but also disagree. Main roster, yes. But I thought he did great in NXT when he was paired with Zalina. My guess is he’s paired with her asap if/when he returns as she is doing nothing now since the break-up.

It’s a bummer he’s leaving, as his C2 work was great.
But it’s also evident he didn’t want to be there and tried to get out once Triple H was in power… For example, when he attacked Sammy backstage.

Anyway, good luck to him. Shame he couldn’t take his father in law with him.
