Ash by Elegance says WWE NXT Battleground appearance was a last-minute decision

The former Dana Brooke was back in WWE.

One of the billed main events on the night at NXT Battleground was TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace challenging Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship.

As the bout was taking place, Tatum Paxley made her way to the ringside area and ran off with Grace’s Knockouts Title but out came Ash by Elegance f.k.a. Dana Brooke. Ash wrestled the title away from Tatum, but that distracted Jordynne and led to her losing.

While appearing on the Paltrocast With Darren Paltrowitz, Ash stated that her appearance at Battleground was a last-minute decision. She feels it made perfect sense seeing as how she’s gunning after Grace’s title.

Well to be honest with you, it was all like a last-minute decision. I had no idea that any of this was going to happen. I thought it was great that there was some integration of the brands, especially with Jordynne (Grace). She’s one powerhouse and she’s definitely one of the most talked-about women wrestlers currently so it’s just — it made perfect sense to be honest with you because I am gunning for that TNA Knockout Worlds Championship and I felt like she was at a little bit of a disadvantage. She’s in NXT territory, I’m very familiar with it so, I was trying to help her, let’s put it that way. I was just trying to help her but, she took it differently.

It was really incredible because I had a signing in Jacksonville on Saturday before I headed out to Vegas and it was very difficult because, you know, a lot of people would come up and they’re like, ‘Oh my God, we would love to see you back’ and this and that. I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, never say never.’ Try to hold it in and I never told anybody, I like to keep it a secret and nowadays, you know if you can keep a secret from wrestling fans and breaking the internet then you know you’ve done something right.

Elsewhere in the conversation, Ash shared that Hollywood is in her near future.

Most definitely (I have acting aspirations). When we had broken into the business with NXT, we were acting every single week. We had Howard Fine. I was actually working closely with Dusty Rhodes on promo classes as well. Towards the end of my WWE career, during the pandemic, I was working with an acting coach… and it was truly amazing. I would do that and do some screenplays. I was going out for a casting for a movie as well too so Hollywood is definitely in the near future as well. But that’s something that you have to have up your sleeve being a professional wrestler.

Battleground was Ash’s first appearance for WWE since being released in September 2023. She spoke in-depth about her time in the company and to read her comments, head over to this link
