Tony has been given a lot of criticism for allowing Punk to berate EVPs, etc in the post-media scrum. Granted it should never have been able to get to this point but do you think if Tony tried to silence Punk it could have lead to an argument between the two on camera?
My guess is thats why he didn’t interrupt and was going to talk to Punk after the event.
I also recall hearing Tony was going to stop doing the post-media scrums some time ago but ended up keeping them. It it possible this entire incident may have been avoided by not having Punk do an interview right after the match?
Not only would his adrenaline have been high but he would have known he suffered another significant injury that I’m sure would have been infuriating after only just coming back. In addition, is there a chance the EVPs would have left if they they didn’t have to stay for their interviews and therefore, do you think this is the end of these AEW post-media scrums?
Personally I agree with Davie who said that Punk should have been on last, having a chance to shower and refresh.
Do you guys feel if CM Punk is fired from AEW that his legacy is forever ruined? I feel the all-time great moment of his return on Rampage last summer is would be tarnished, and him getting fired would also validate the WWE’s reasons for their side of the story as to why there was a falling out between Punk and WWE back in 2014

My question, i was listening back to your first cassette this week and what happened for you to start the post family. Do you think regardless of what actually happened do you both think that you would have eventually broke away by this point and still gone independent?

Was curious what both of your opinions were on why Matt Cross and AR Fox never made it bigger? Both had a lot of hype at the start of their career, and both were great in Lucha Underground, but neither have had the careers of some of their contemporaries. Firstly, gotta give the obligatory congratulations to Daddy Ting for becoming a father. As a dad of 3 (5y, 3y, 2y), the most recent episode of Talk was my favorite one. A lot of what John was talking about hit close to me because of the similarities in ages and the timeline of experiences (my youngest still does not sleep through the night on some days). If every episode of Talk was you guys in a car driving around, talking about dad life, I’d be bought in.
My questions have to do with today’s announcement of Survivor Series: War Games. Since Survivor Series as always been the WWEs version of War Games (both debuted in 1987), if there was ever a Survivor Series match that would’ve been better suited to take place inside of War Games, which match stands out to you?
Also, is there a fued that would’ve benefited from a War Games blow-off match, even if it didn’t even make it to Survivor Series? My brain immediately goes to The Nation vs DX in 1998 and Evolution vs The Rest of Raws Main Event in 2003.

I just want to add, or do the elite make the jump to WWE with Hunter being in charge. The bucks clearly look up to Shawn, so I assume they may feel similar to Hunter.
Are you familiar with the deal that Major League Soccer signed with Apple earlier this year?
MLS signed a ten-year media rights deal with Apple which entitles Apple to be the exclusive online streaming platform for MLS globally. The deal is worth a reported guarantee of $250 million per year plus a possible share in subscription fees, but MLS has to pay production costs (not all details are public). Interestingly, MLS is still entitled to find a “linear” television broacast partner (ESPN, Fox, etc.).
Have you heard about the potential of any such deal being discussed for pro wrestling? For example, could it be possible that AEW re-signs with Warner/Discovery to air on TBS/TNT and then signs a separate deal to stream Dynamite and Rampage on Apple TV+, Netflix, or another streaming platform?
(For reference, MLS national game broadcasts in 2021 averaged 285,000 viewers in the US.)

Yes, a lot of it is just talking old wrestling shows. But there are tons of personal stories of what was top of mind in your lives at any point in time.
Obviously it wouldn’t be something they would have any interest in until they’re adults looking back.
But that’s some cool shit.
Do you think Sting made the right call to spend so many years in TNA in the mid 2000s? Personally, I’ll always be a little sad we never got Sting and the Undertaker at Wrestlemania.

I was just curious about navigating relationships with media colleagues when they transition and work for wrestling/combat sports promotions or organizations. Did you guys find it difficult regarding communication or was it easier as they had a better understanding of what being part of the media entails when it came to doing your job?
The one that comes to mind is Court Bauer and John doing Bauer and Pollock (always enjoyed the king and the fish) and then Court restarting MLW.
Also John, for your DropBox issue moving files between computers, you could do network drive that you can access between all the computers on your network. You can just connect a USB hard drive to a port on your router and it should just set itself up and you can see it in File Explorer. Let me know if you need any help with it.

My question is a Wrestling related one and bit of a two parter.
If Cody is cleared by Survivor Series could you see him being brought in as a surpise 5th entrant for War Games, given his link with the match type, or do you see them holding him off till the Rumble as the surprise entrant and winner? If the latter, how do you think that affects Roman and the titles if the WWE do manage to get The Rock for Mania?
How could Sting have been booked better in 1998? The year started with him recovering from both his personal issues and the bungling of the Starrcade 1997 finish, but even allowing for both of these, the speed at which he cooled off was surprising given how hot he’d been for all of the previous year. He had a lackluster rematch with Hogan, a short and unmemorable title run, and was in the Wolfpac for most of the back half of the year not doing much of note, including a let down of a match with Bret.
While, like Goldberg after the streak, some cooling down was likely inevitable, and given that it was taking place while this same streak was the focus of the world title picture, what could have been done differently, in your opinions?
