Ben-K wins the Open the Dream Gate title in Kobe

Dragon Gate held their biggest card of the year Sunday with the Kobe Pro Wrestling Festival show from Kobe World Hall.

The card was headlined by PAC defending the Open the Dream Gate Championship against Ben-K that saw PAC drop the title after taking the Ben-K Bomb.

It was PAC’s first clean loss since September 2017 when he lost the WWE Cruiserweight title to Enzo Amore. He was inactive for a full year from October 2017 until leaving WWE and returning to Dragon Gate in October of last year.

PAC joined R.E.D. and became the Open the Dream Gate champion last December defeating Masato Yoshino. As champion, he has been extremely protected and led to creative finishes for non-Dragon Gate matches against the likes of Zack Sabre Jr., WALTER, and Will Ospreay.

Ben-K is one of their top rising stars, who came up in the Dragon Gate Dojo and debuted in 2016. He was a member of R.E.D. until this past spring when he was kicked out of the group. He defeated former stablemate Eita in the final of this year’s King of Gate tournament and led to his challenge for the Open the Dream Gate title on today’s card.

Here are the full results from the show in Kobe:
*Super Shisa, Shachihiko Machine, Problem Dragon, K-Ness & Draztick Boy over Kenichiro Arai, Keisuke Okuda, Dragon Diamond, Jason Lee & Jimmy
*Hyo Watanabe, Yuki Yoshioka & Kota Minoura over BxB Hulk, Kagetora & Yosuke Santa Maria and Genki Horiguchi, YASSHI & Punch Tominaga
*Hong-man Choi over Ryo Saito and Stalker Ichikawa
*Kzy over Shun Skywalker
*The Strong Machines over Yasushi Kanda, Takashi Yoshida & Kazma Sakamoto to win the Open the Triangle Gate titles
*Susumu Yokosuka over Flamia to retain the Open the Brave Gate title
*Ultimo Dragon, Masato Yoshino & Dragon Kid over Masaaki Mochizuki, Shuji Kondo & Takuya Sugawara
*Eita and Big R Shimizu over KAI and Yamato and Naruki Doi and Kaito Ishida to win the Open the Twin Gate tag titles
*Ben-K over PAC to win the Open the Dream Gate title

Since the main issue Pac had was not wanting to lose while being Dragongate champion; does this mean a return to AEW is on the horizon?

Hopefully he shows up at All Out.
