Due to injury, Lashley is out of the tournament.

The WWE SmackDown portion of the King of the Ring tournament is kicking off on 5/10. One of the advertised first-round matches was Bobby Lashley versus Tama Tonga.

SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis took to X and shared that due to an injury Lashley suffered during training, he is not able to compete but filling in for him will be The Pride’s Angelo Dawkins.

As of this writing, here are the first-round matches for the SmackDown bracket of King of the Ring:

  • A.J. Styles vs. Randy Orton
  • Baron Corbin vs. Carmelo Hayes
  • L.A. Knight vs. Santos Escobar
  • Angelo Dawkins vs. Tama Tonga

The participants for SmackDown’s Queen of the Ring bracket have yet to be revealed.

He came down with a serious case of “why are we jobbing out Bobby Lashley for nothing?”

(Or he might really be hurt. If so, get well soon Bob!)

I may not watch much, but I have to ask why use Dawkins when Montez Ford is right there!

I’ve seen a lot of strong opinions on Twitter about which Street Profit should be jobbed out here, and it seems pretty much 50/50. Didn’t expect it would be so divisive… maybe it’s just because it’s the IWC, so every opinion needs to be a matter of life and death.

(Also, between Street Profits and FTR, I’m getting sick of wondering which member of two of my favorite current tag teams is going to do the job this time…)
