The former Intercontinental Champion also addressed the idea of reuniting with his father and uncle on WWE TV.
Bron Breakker is four years into his pro wrestling career and present-day, he’s a part of the Monday Night Raw roster. Breakker is coming off a reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion and while in NXT, he won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, captured the NXT Tag Team Titles alongside Baron Corbin and is a two-time NXT Champion.
Prior to venturing into wrestling, Breakker played football. In 2020, he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the NFL Baltimore Ravens. That summer, Breakker was released.
He shared with the TWC Show that he had opportunities to continue playing in the NFL, but his heart was no longer in it after being let go. His family wanted him to continue playing, but Breakker had his sights set on WWE.
I think everybody was a little bit on the fence with me (venturing into pro wrestling) because I still had some gas left in the tank for football, because I was still — had opportunities to go back to the NFL and play, and they (my family) really wanted to see me continue playing in the NFL and you know, not that I didn’t want to. When I got released from the Ravens, it sort of kind of broke my heart a little bit with football just ‘cause I had given everything to it, like from an effort and dedication and I had put so much effort into making it there and then, you know, NFL’s a business. I understand that. When I got released, it really just kind of broke my heart a little bit. I had opportunities to keep playing. I was on the fence about it. I made that decision with my family but, my heart was ready for WWE. It was time.
While mentioning ‘family,’ Breakker’s father is Rick Steiner and his uncle is Scott Steiner. Breakker and his father collaborated on-screen together in NXT and both his father and uncle were in attendance to watch him at SummerSlam.
As far as working with either of them on-screen in the future, he would like to save that for a Premium Live Event. Bron knows his father has no interest in getting back in the ring, but he thinks Scott might be game for it.
I think it’s there, if we need it (potential for me to do something on-screen with Rick Steiner and/or Scott Steiner). I think if it works creatively. If we’re in a spot where that’s needed, we have it at our disposal at any time. I think I would rather — me personally — rather save that for something that’s huge, like pay-per-view — or P.L.E., excuse me. If I had it our way I guess or my way, that’s something I would save that for is a PLE. But, I don’t know. I know that my dad for sure is not interested in getting in the ring. I think he just moved on from that. You know, as far as my uncle Scott, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind getting in there and you know, God man. Uncle Scotty, he might just put his stuff on (Breakker laughed)… I don’t know. I think that’d be a cool thing for them to do with me. But, I don’t know. We’ll just have to see. We got that one in our back pocket. My cousin’s on his way up. We’ll see what he does. We’ll see, we’ll see.
On the 10/30 Raw, Breakker came out to the ring and showed respect to the new Intercontinental Champion Jey Uso. Later in the show, he approached the World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER.
