Hayes speaks about the unspoken camaraderie that exists.

As a part of WWE’s NXT brand, Carmelo Hayes has become a Cruiserweight, two-time North American and NXT Champion. He’s currently involved in a storyline with Trick Williams as Williams is carving his own path while there is the hovering question of who attacked him in October

Carmelo Hayes spoke about his career, Trick Williams and more topics were touched on during his interview with VIBE. He went on to state that every Black wrestler he’s met has shown love and there’s an unspoken camaraderie between them.

I feel like every Black wrestler that I’ve met has just shown so much love. Like Booker T, even Big E, just from top to bottom. It’s just like an unspoken camaraderie in a lot of ways. Booker for example, he wants the best for all talent, but Black talent as well. Booker T has been a huge advocate for helping with my progress.

At NXT New Year’s Evil on January 2nd, Trick will be challenging Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship. As of this writing, here’s the updated lineup for the USA Network event:

  • Fallon Henley vs. Tiffany Stratton (If Henley loses, she’ll become Stratton’s servant. If Stratton loses, she’ll help Henley on her ranch)
  • Dragon Lee, Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde vs. No Quarter Catch Crew (Drew Gulak, Damon Kemp & Myles Borne or Charlie Dempsey)
  • Roxanne Perez vs. Arianne Grace
  • NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament Final: Riley Osborne vs. Oba Femi
  • NXT Women’s Championship: Lyra Valkyria (c) vs. Blair Davenport
  • NXT Championship: Ilja Dragunov (c) vs. Trick Williams
