Green was expecting to get a call from WWE.

During the summer of 2023, the duo of Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville captured the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.

Days later, Green’s husband Matt Cardona worked DDT Pro-Wrestling’s Wrestle Peter Pan event in Tokyo, Japan. For his entrance, he wore a replica WWE Women’s Tag belt. Green further addressed that while on the Lightweights Podcast

With Cardona doing that just days after her title win, Green said there was the assumption that it was the real belt. She was worried WWE would be upset at her. Green added that Cardona did not inform her of his plans to wear the replica.

Oh my gosh. Okay, so he (Matt Cardona) came and watched me win the (Women’s Tag) title in Atlanta and I guess, after I won the title, he immediately went online and bought the replica. Bought the replica, got it overnighted by WWE Shop or Fanatics and had it like two days later to go to Japan with. He didn’t ask me, he didn’t tell me. I saw him with it in Japan, and everyone thought because it was on — he was in Japan on my days off, everyone thought that it was the real belt… And I was just waiting for someone at work to call me and ask. Thank God, they did not believe it. But I was worried, I’m not gonna lie because he does stuff like that. He does crazy things. He makes videos out of all my wrestling stuff. I am the butt of all his jokes. So, I really thought the WWE was gonna get mad at me and I was gonna have to prove, here I am, this is the belt. He’s got a different one.

Green and Piper Niven’s reign as Women’s Tag Team Champions came to an end in December. On the 2/26 edition of Monday Night Raw, Green was in action in singles competition against Raquel Gonzalez.
