Chris Kanyon, Plane Ride From Hell to be covered on Dark Side of the Ring season 3

Season three of VICE’s Dark Side of the Ring program will kick off on May 6th. Brian Pillman will be the focus of the season three premiere and Nick Gage, the Collision in Korea shows, The Ultimate Warrior, Grizzly Smith and Tom “Dynamite Kid” Billington are going to be profiled.

It was revealed through TheWrap that season three will also cover the WWF Steroid Trail and the Plane Ride From Hell. There will be a second-half of the season due to the amount of episodes that have been compiled. The FMW promotion, The Johnny K9 Story and Chris Kanyon are focuses as well.

Chris Jericho is narrating and the third season will include interviews with Jake Roberts, Jon Moxley, Mick Foley, Diamond Dallas Page, Eric Bischoff, Jim Ross, Jim Cornette, David Arquette, Antonio Inoki, Rob Van Dam, Terry Funk and the former wife of Ultimate Warrior, Shari Tyree.

Jason Eisener and Evan Husney, Dark Side of the Ring executive producers and co-creators issued the following statement to TheWrap:

With this epic, 14-episode season, we’ve had the opportunity to push the series to new heights and dig even deeper into a world that has captivated us our entire lives. We’re excited to unveil a season that encompasses a whole new spectrum of stories, ranging from legendary icons of the past, to contemporary snapshots from wrestling’s underground, to mind-blowing sagas overseas.

 

The ‘Dark Side’ series is getting a spinoff on VICE that is covering the sport of football.

Also to be covered this season in the second half are Luna Vachon, and Rob Black’s XPW, which involved porn and mob-like assault.

I didn’t even think about Kanyon, that could be a very interesting story. I believe he’s the first wrestler in the mainstream to come out as gay while still being in the business, but if I remember correctly at the time people didn’t believe him. Very sad story, and a very talented performer. I’m looking forward to seeing this episode.

Not really looking forward to the Warrior one, I get it, I know he’s said some shitty things and if he was alive I wouldn’t care as much because the heat would be on him, but it does put a bad taste in my mouth that this guy is most likely going to be ripped to shreds which in today’s climate will probably mean a lot of online backlash towards his daughters after they already lost their father at such a young age. Its sad to me that they will likely pay the price for his mistakes.
