CM Punk has been working with AEW to mend fences and return to the company, according to a report.
According to Meltzer, AEW owner Tony Khan wanted Punk back in the fold and the pair had managed to reach an agreement in principle on how this might happen.
However, Meltzer noted that Punk’s Instagram comments, in which he criticized Tony Khan, Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley, may have muddied the waters:
The situation with C.M. Punk became a bigger story this week when he put up an Instagram post where he went off on Tony Khan, Jon Moxley, myself and Chris Jericho, which he immediately took down. This came while sides were working on a reconciliation that was at least in principle agreed to, per the decision of Khan who wanted him back.
Where things stand at this moment are unknown. There are tons of complicated issues involved and differences of opinions on the subject. But it was going to happen and then this happened and it still may end up happening.
Meanwhile, during a live recording of ‘FTR with Dax Harwood’ on Thursday, Harwood texted Punk, asking whether he had a message for his fans. Punk replied during the show, stating, “I miss them,” and “I wish I bought them all ice cream.”
