WWE has announced that Daniel Bryan will return on Friday Night SmackDown this week after being off programming for several months.

Bryan, 39, was assigned to SmackDown over the course of the two-night WWE Draft and thus, remaining on the show he had been part of before taking time off.

Bryan last competed on SmackDown back in May where he went to the finals of the tournament for the vacant Intercontinental title, losing to AJ Styles on the June 12th episode of Friday Night SmackDown.

Bryan and wife Brie Bella (Brianna Danielson) had their second child back in August, which Bryan had noted ahead of time he would go on paternity leave.

This Friday’s episode is being promoted as the “season premiere” of SmackDown with Roman Reigns defending the Universal title against Braun Strowman, Jeff Hardy taking on Lars Sullivan, New Day vs. Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura & Sheamus, and they have added a SmackDown tag title match with The Street Profits defending against Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode.
