The IWGP Intercontinental and Heavyweight Championships were on the line in the main event of night two of Wrestle Kingdom 14. Kazuchika Okada earned his way to night two by defeating Kota Ibushi to retain the Heavyweight Title and Naito earned his way to night two by defeating Jay White to become Intercontinental Champion. Naito and Okada met in the squared circle with over 30,000 wrestling fans watching live inside the Tokyo Dome and in the end, it was Tetsuya Naito scoring the victory over Okada to retain the Intercontinental Title and to become IWGP Heavyweight Champion for a second time.

Naito was defeated by Kazuchika Okada inside the Tokyo Dome for the Heavyweight Title in 2014 and again in 2018. The L.I.J. member gave a salute to Okada after his victory and stated that it felt good to pick up a main event win in the Tokyo Dome. As Naito was about to sign off, he was ambushed by KENTA who lost the NEVER Openweight Championship to Hirooki Goto earlier in the night.

KENTA beat down Naito, grabbed both the Intercontinental and Heavyweight Titles and sat on the chest of Naito in the Katsuyori Shibata pose.

BUSHI was the only member of Los Ingobernables de Japon that came to Naito’s aid. New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s string of events wraps up with New Year’s Dash on January 5th and although he was not able to complete his celebration, Naito is still the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Champion.
