McIntyre is the latest name to chime in on the speculation.

There’s a new interview with Drew McIntyre that Fox News pushed out to promote the upcoming Bad Blood pay-per-view. McIntyre is on the marquee as he’s scheduled to clash with CM Punk inside Hell in a Cell.

During the interview, the topic of a midcard championship for WWE’s women’s division was brought up. McIntyre told the outlet that it is something that’s certainly going to come around in the near future. If the secondary title is introduced, McIntyre feels it’s justified.

That’s (WWE midcard women’s title) certainly something that’s going to come around in the near future, and you don’t just bring titles in for the sake of bringing titles (especially) if you don’t have the adequate depth on the roster. But now, to watch just how far the women’s revolution has come – the revolution is such a distant memory now. The women have been killing it for years now.

And they got that opportunity years and years ago, and since then, we’ve had so many people come in, and it’s gotten to a point where it’s not a case of you want to be after any women’s matches, you do not want to be after the women’s match anymore because they’re going to go out there, they’re going to kill it, the (crowds) are going to be burnt out, and you’re going to have to work really hard to get them. To watch the talent pool grow, the roster depth grow, and the characters, more importantly, connect with the audience, because if they don’t care about you, it doesn’t matter if you’re a man or a woman, nobody’s emotionally attached to you. You might as well just sit in the back and not go out there. There’s so many characters the women’s division has gotten over now. We’re at a point where if there’s a second title introduced, it’s absolutely justified.

The likes of Chelsea Green and Ms. Money in the Bank Tiffany Stratton have shared their thoughts about the idea of a secondary title being added. To read their comments, click on either of their highlighted names.

The song remains the same. If more titles will translate to more opportunities, then go for it. If it’s going to be the same amount of TV time devoted to women’s wrestling, then lack of props isn’t the problem.

Feels like they’re struggling as it is with the ones they’ve got.

I think it’s a good idea, but they need to build the division first. I wouldn’t introduce a new women’s title when they already have a women’s division (tag) that is arguably still on life support, or at best just coming off life support. Long term, 100% think it’s a good idea.

It is interesting. They will essentially need two titles. A Women’s IC and Women’s US. They also need to beef up both rosters. I think one issue with AEW and its titles is its lack of brand separation. WWE had more belts than AEW, but they are organized into 3 shows. Now, if they have a 3 hour Raw and a 3 hour Smackdown, I can see that happening (or however long Raw will be on Netflix.
