The EGGSHELLS Podcast Companion is a series of shows exploring a different year in the wrestling history of the Tokyo Dome with a different guest each episode.

Episode two sees Chris Charlton and John Pollock look at 1990, which saw NJPW and AJPW work together on two separate shows; one with an infamous Big Van Vader and Stan Hansen brawl, and another with Hansen facing Hulk Hogan in a classic as WWF made strides into Japan.

The podcast is an audio companion to EGGSHELLS: Pro Wrestling in the Tokyo Dome, a new book releasing on paperback and Kindle July 17!

I would have loved to see Gordy vs, Hogan, I never knew that was originally in the books. But I do think that Hogan vs. Hansen was a better match then Gordy could have got.
I also find it interesting that New Japan have posted the Hansen/Vader match for free this past week, think as a tribute to Vader. While it may not be the greatest match, you can argue it was Vader’s most famous.
My final note is that I love the thumbnails for this podcast, both have looked amazing so far.

Another great podcast. I ended up pre-ordering the book this week to go along with the podcasts. I also ended up buying Lion’s Pride this week and read through that in three days. The depth of knowledge in that book (and in this podcast) is amazing. Everyone who wants to know more about New Japan and its stars or even about how business practices can help and hurt a wrestling company should read this book. I’m going to give it a second read through before too long.

I enjoyed listening to this, it was a great companion for my drive to Strong Style Evolved UK. Looking forward to more of these!
