He explained his stance.

Three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion El Desperado was interviewed by NJPW1972.com. The interview was conducted prior to the beginning of the 2024 Best of the Super Juniors tournament

As the conversation continued, Desperado explained why he’s never ‘hung up’ about competing at the Tokyo Dome. It was in January that Desperado bested Hiromu Takahashi at Wrestle Kingdom 18 to win his third Junior Heavyweight Title.

But it isn’t something I’m hung up on. I’m not one to talk about wanting the big spots. I don’t get at all cut up about the Tokyo Dome, especially.

The place is huge, the front row is far from the ring, and the people in the cheap seats are watching the screen. It’s not for me. I definitely understand the appeal of being in that atmosphere, but in my opinion, the best places to actually enjoy wrestling are (Shin-Kiba) 1st RING, Shinjuku FACE, Korakuen Hall. I don’t really feel like big venues equals better wrestling. If you told me the event before, that June 3rd, Korakuen, was the finals (of Best of the Super Juniors instead of Dominion), I’d be just fine with it.

Details about Wrestle Kingdom 19 have yet to be released.

There was an attendance of 27,422 at the Tokyo Dome in 2024 for Wrestle Kingdom. The venue has a capacity of 55,000.
