Since it’s peak Rumble season, here’s an interesting article from Den Of Geek that has every single Royal Rumble match in history ranked. What do you think of this list?
My Thoughts:
I say he has 1994 shockingly low. I won’t defend it as being a top 10 Rumble, but was it that bad that it was fourth worst?
Also, 1997 is pretty low considering how good of a story it told. That match basically was the precursor for the Wrestlemania match that cemented Austin.
1993 seems a bit high to be in the top 10 (not much special happened during the match), but I have a soft spot for 1993 since it was the first wrestling tape I owned.
I agree with him not putting 1992 number one. Despite Flair’s amazing and gutsy performance and a star studded roster, I think it has an overrated finish. Why would Sid turn his back on Flair and start shouting down Hogan, and why would Hogan help Flair win the match?
Ride or die with 1992. Flair is awesome, Heenan is awesome and about half of the guys are legit Hall of Famers (and that’s with Taker and Bulldog not in yet).
To be fair, I only saw one or two live (and as a weekly viewer) from 2000 until the start of the Network.
It didn’t have Angle or HHH or Benoit in it. No Austin or Rock. No Goldberg.
Yeah it had some big names like Shawn and Jericho and UT and Brock but hardly the number as some other ones.
Look at 1992
Hogan, Sid, savage, piper, Flair, slaughter, Snuka, UT, Jake the snake and Shawn Michaels. It’s insane just having Flair, Hogan and Savage in there let alone the rest
