AEW Dynamite – thoughts?
Steve from Virginia Beach
When The Gunn Club won their match, the entire crowd facing the hard cam went blank. No one cheered, booed, moved or made any noise what so ever, it was quite odd and fascinating. In my 36 years of being a wrestling fan, I can honestly say I’ve never seen that before.
Also, does Kip Sabian really get paid to sit in the front row with a box on his head every week?
Might be in the minority but I found this episode to be a bit lackluster. Was really looking forward for the Mox vs Brody match but it didn’t just do anything for me. I’m glad Wardlow won the TNT title, no rematch please just have Wardlow do a weekly challenges. Glad they are building up the ROH ppv. Honestly don’t have much to talk about this dynamite. Question, with all the changes with the WB/Discovery merger do you think there might have been a change and hiring the Briscoes could be a thing?
Another fun Dynamite aided by a -very- hot crowd. No must-see matches, but certainly nothing bad. It’s a minor point, but Shafir looked a lot more fluid and comfortable in a tag context.
Death Before Dishonor is starting to shape up quite nicely, and looks like it should be able to deliver some classic RoH flavour, even with a number of names on the card not traditionally associated with the brand. What are your thoughts on how the card’s been built on what is ostensibly another brand’s television, and the specific talents who’ve been booked for the show in terms of RoH’s legacy and fans’ expectations thereof?

Pretty fun show tonight, as I usually feel about AEW at minimum, but it felt like a definite comedown from Forbidden Door and Blood & Guts. The biggest highlight was the opener with Wardlow winning the TNT Title. I could have done without the heavy jokes towards Jeff Hardy, but at least it sounded like the crowd reacted appropriately, with heat towards Christian. I thought the main event was solid, but after the opener it seemed the stuff worth being really excited for was what was being announced or teased for next week’s show and Death Before Dishonor.

I atteneded the show tonight and overall had alot of fun. The entire Wardlow segment was the highlight of the night and he came off as a star. Hopefully he has a dominate reign as TNT champion to help get that title back on track.
Rest of the show was fine with a nice main event, the acclaimed face turn, and another fantastic Christian promo. Overall, it felt like an average episode of Dynamite, which i kind of expected after Forbidden Door and Blood and Guts.
Kingston vs Takeshita on Rampage was easily the best match of the night. Its definitely worth checking out this Friday.
