John Pollock & Wai Ting are live tonight immediately after AEW’s Fight for the Fallen

Good show of Dynamite.
I watched on Max tonight and just want to add that I had no streaming issues. There are commercials but had no problems fast forwarding. It will definitely be a lot easier to watch AEW for me now.
The highlights for me were the Hangman vs Cassidy match. Loved seeing Cassidy use his characteristic mannerisms in a smart way to avoid Hangman’s offense.
And MJF’s promo. His promo video was heads and shoulders above every other speaking segment on the show. I loved hearing him focus on the championship. Mox vs MJF could reignite a lot interest in the championship picture.

Fun 6 man tag tonight to end the night, really hope rated FTR don’t get sucked into the Jericho vortex after that backstage segment.
Enjoyed Hayter vs Hart, not wasn’t the biggest fan of the ending. This feud goes on.
Really interested to see where Ricochet takes this heel character. Going to be a violent feud with swerve.
We are stacking the opponents for Mox and I love it.
Happy new years to the Post Wrestling family.

Great show tonight. The crowd was going crazy for the main event, and it was a great feel good moment for them. Some back to basics stuff for AEW. Speaking of which, the whole episode seemed to have one unifying theme, that being fighting for the World Title. Everyone is focused on that, which was great. Powerhouse Hobbs had a rehab match from his loss and MJF had a rehab promo from his loss. Not the match, just that whole feud. I thought MJF really showed why he’s one of the best performers in that whole company. I also thought Ricochet was excellent in his attack on Swerve Strickland and he feels like a completely different person from his WWE run.
The only negatives for me were the women’s match, which was below the standard for what the matches should be on the show and the new song. I may be excited, but I’m also so… scared. On the plus side, if there is any pro wrestling television show that’s on speed, it’s Dynamite, and that’s why I like it.

Happy New Year to you both and the entire Post community!
Great show tonight, although not perfect, as I could go without The Pointer Sisters intro or COPE. Although I’m sure I’ll get used to both. At least the latter was a part of a feel good ending to the show that the crowd was super in to.
Hangman-Orange and Hart-Hayter were both good, but I feel like they served as an appetizer for what each combination could do in a PPV setting.
The booking of the Acclaimed match was exactly what it needed to be. Caster’s been great as the delusional heel who gets his ass handed to him once he’s alone in the ring. While Bowens more than held his ground against Lashley and Benjamin.
Speaking of delusional heels, what a rebound for Ricochet. The well deserved concern for him after being punked out by the Hurt Syndicate a few weeks ago seems like a distant memory. It gives me a glimmer of hope that the Undisputed Kingdom may not come off as geeks in the long term, but only a glimmer.
It’s refreshing to see the AEW World title being the goal for so many people on the roster. They might get side tracked with other feuds, but it always comes back to wanting the biggest prize. Which is exactly what a promotion should be centered around. Although I do wish the Casino Gauntlet was used exclusively to turn Double Or Nothing into their Royal Rumble event equivalent.

Decent episode after an outstanding ppv. I watched on Max and the stream looked great with no issues.
Ricochet stabbing Swerve tonight was brutal and gave a much needed edge to his new dorky character. When Urkel created “Cool Juice” he became Stefon. When Ricochet finds a pair of golden scissors, he becomes SICKO-CHET.

All I could think of while watching that Ricochet angle was, 1. I feel like Wai, kinda called this in part during the last review indicating that Ricochets success as a heel would depend on him ramping up his intensity/aggression which this clearly was. And 2. This is an example of letting things play out where something actually happened. They’ve elevated Ricochet to be a potentially top level heel over the course of a few months. While I’m unsure whether the Hurt Syndicate angle was necessary for him to get here, I do think the overarching storyline of him being disrespected and taken lightly by people like Swerve and the Syndicate ultimately made tonight feel like a well earned escalation of intensity from him. Really interested to see where he goes from here.

I watched on MAX, both on my television and my phone. No issues to note, but the closed captioning for mobile was absolute garbage.
Question: when can we expect John Pollock to start going by Poll?
Ben from Vancouver
Very solid show. Ricochet’s violent angle and MJF’s promo were the standout segments.
The three-way worked really well and they went at such a fast pace. Not sure I would have had Julia Hart return in a match where her opponent barely sold. Made her look weak.
Main event was fun, but Wheeler Yuta doesn’t belong in the main event. He brings the Deathriders down because he just doesn’t look impressive or threatening.
Q: Which show do you think does better numbers in Canada: Impact on Sportsnet 360 or Collison on USA Network?

A very fun show. Watching on Max on my PS5 felt so much better than the Triller/VPN/Chromecast combo that I used to have to do. While I will miss the lack of commercials, I appreciate the convenience and reliability that Max offers.

Dork Ass Trevor was bullied too his breaking point and snapped on Swerve. With his heel turn fully realized, I’m very excited to see what this version of Ricochet can become. I’m curious to see if he changes up his style to match this new flip towards darkness. I shudder to think what kind of violence that he and Swerve can inflict on was other

“Cope” is just a bad name, which is funny considering that his name used to be “Edge.”

Question: Triller is offering Wrestle Kingdom and Wrestle Dynasty on a deal for $50. Is Wrestle Kingdom going to be an additional cost on New Japan World or is it included in the subscription?

I watched Dynamite on Max since it’s their first night doing this. I’ve had ad-free Max for years now because it was a perk for HBO cable subscribers. I can confirm that there is no picture-in-picture footage during the ad breaks, but I didn’t miss them. The stream on Max was very smooth. I noticed right afterward that a replay was immediately available, but it was the Spanish-language broadcast.
Good simple show, setting multiple tables for things coming out of Worlds End. A lot of video packages to catch new viewers up to date. I liked seeing a lot of people focused on the World Title leading into next week’s Casino Gauntlet. May all MJF’s old acquaintances be forgotten, as him moving on from Adam Cole to Jon Moxley interests me the most right now. Good action overall. Ricochet looking like a serial killer with the attack on Swerve. Has anyone mentioned yet how good it is to have Adam Copeland back? I ask rhetorically. If he can go by Edge for over twenty years, I can COPE with this new moniker.
An overall fun show in front of a great crowd.
Loved the focus of multiple people gunning for Moxley. Assuming Darby is the guy who beats Mox (not before Summer), they’ve laid out months of challengers before then. Specifically MJF, Copeland, Jarrett, and Jay White.
Considering how much Jarrett won people over based on his promo and performance ahead of the Owen tourney last year, I could see him talking tons of folks into a building in Nashville for a career vs. title match with Mox. Only to break everybody’s hearts.
I appreciated a lot of the production elements tonight, with video packages being used heavily to catch viewers up to speed with various storylines. Especially considering there was a much larger potential audience for them tonight on MAX.
Loved the Ricochet/Swerve angle. Would love to see Hurt Syndicate change their mind on Ricochet and invite him back. Would allow for Swerve to circle back to that fued. And with the idea of Undisputed Kingdom backing up Swerve, could lead to some good matches all around. (And a much needed fresh set of opponents for Cole).
Overall, a solid and enjoyable show.
MJF won his match at ‘Worlds End’
As someone who doesn’t have cable, this was my first chance ever to watch Dynamite live from my home. It definitely felt like an introduction episode, though it was buried so deep in the Max platform I’m not sure how many people would’ve stumbled across it.
I agree with Wai’s take that as an introduction episode, there was potential for confusion if they had gone hard on Wrestle Dynasty promotion. There were screen graphics for multiple Wrestle Dynasty matches, not just Mercedes/Mina, but explaining NJPW World would’ve been too much.
Cassidy/Page, the three-way, and the main event did a good job of laying out the current main event scene. We even received an MJF promo to include him too. The video packages felt heavy but knowing it might be for new viewers made me forgive it a bit.
All in all, I’m very excited to get to watch Dynamite and follow AEW more closely than just by listening to podcasts and reading news articles. I hope this does pick up new viewers as well.
I said, not the match, but the whole feud after. It was a joke, making fun of the feud and how MJF needed a rehab promo to get past it.
My bad. I missed that the first read.
