John Stagikas, better known in pro wrestling as former ROH Pure Champion John Walters is returning to Ring of Honor. A video package to promote his return aired on the most recent episode of ROH’s weekly show. Walters began his career in the sport in the early 2000s and he spent several years with Ring of Honor. During his time as Pure Champion, he defended the title against the likes of Nigel McGuinness, Jay Lethal and Homicide.

He continued to work the independent scene post-ROH under the name “RJ Brewer”. Per Cagematch.net, the last time Walters wrestled was in 2018 at a Beyond Wrestling event against Wheeler Yuta.

After a 14 year absence, I am returning to @ringofhonor. My goal is simple. I want the pure title back. pic.twitter.com/xfPhlXjmiK

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Walters was set to return to ROH for the Past vs. Present show. He was going to be facing Mark Haskins at the event.

On the same episode that Walters’ return was promoted on, former ROH World Tag Team Champion Mike Bennett returned to the company and he reunited with his former ‘Kingdom’ stable-mate Matt Taven. To read more about Bennett’s return, head over to POST Wrestling’s article about the topic.
