WWE is on the road to the Royal Rumble pay-per-view on January 26th and the January 10th episode of Friday Night SmackDown added to the build for that show. According to Showbuzz Daily, last night’s SmackDown drew 2.503 million overnight viewers and that number is up from last week’s 2.418 million viewers. With the most recent show, Friday Night SmackDown has done its highest number since November 22nd.

Hour one of the broadcast did 2.679 million and hour two dropped to 2.326. The show did an 0.75 in the 18-49 demographic which is up from last week’s program that did an 0.7 in the same category.

Here are the top five videos on WWE’s YouTube channel from the 1/10/20 episode of Friday Night SmackDown:

  1. Roman Reigns lays down challenge with The Usos by his side, 592,816 views
  2. John Morrison reunites with The Miz on “Miz TV”, 529,733 views
  3. The Usos vs. King Corbin & Dolph Ziggler, 357,416 views
  4. Braun Strowman vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, 261,674 views
  5. King Corbin and his court slam Roman Reigns through a table, 256,406 views

Coming out of the show, it was announced that Roman Reigns and King Corbin are going one-on-one at the Royal Rumble. Both men will be competing in the men’s Rumble match. Dolph Ziggler, Elias, Otis, Tucker, Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss have been added to their respective Rumble matches and the main event of the show featured the return of former United States Champion Robert Roode. Roode was suspended from WWE in December for violating the company’s talent wellness policy.

Clearly Mandy Rose and Alexa Bliss drew this number.

I don’t know what contributed to SmackDown’s increase in viewership. The only interesting thing on there right now is Mandy Rose & Otis. But they beat out all other wrestling shows this week so it’s the best (or is that logic reserved only for one specific show). :eyes:

I mean, they should be beating every other wrestling show for the week, they are on Network TV.

Yeah it’s fair to compare FOX to TNT/USA. No big differences at all there

But you’re still of the opinion that if more people watch a specific show then it definitely must’ve been better…?

The general consensus this week was that AEW didn’t put on a good show but the ratings came out and people changed their opinion and based it on the ratings. That shit is hilarious and that shit is very AEW specific.

Not true at all. Even when the ratings show people prefer aew over nxt it does not make a crappy segment better. And you are constantly generalizing this stuff on this board. One could think there is a bias.

I call out both shows when I think they need to do better. I don’t think anyone’s been harsher on NXT in these past 3 weeks than me on this forum. That doesn’t mean dumb logic when talking about any of the shows should get a pass.

Viewers were thinking Usos would be the help Roman needed to finally get rid of Corbin…the legit heel draws.

Couldn’t possibly be the Miz and Morrison reunion.

I never changed my opinion, thought it was a hit or miss show but NXT just been dull for a while. But comparing FOX to cable network ratings is stupid

You seem to have completely missed the point about ratings not necessarily reflecting quality and how people should stop pretending it does when it suits them…

Your point was Smackdown had the most viewers so therefore people should say it’s the best show. It’s on the largest network so of course it will get the highest amount of viewers. They’ve actually lost 1.5 million since the debut episode, so what’s your point exactly?

I was referencing how certain people talk when AEW win in the ratings and how they sound ridiculous. I thought that was obvious… I don’t know how to make this clearer to you die hard AEW fans that become so insanely defensive.

I was mocking the dumb logic used by people that brag about ratings. Hope that’s clear enough now.

Got it. You get really sad when NXT keeps losing. Cool

You AEW hardcores are insane. I’ve been shitting on NXT freely the past few weeks. I’ve mock the ratings even when NXT win. Zero objectivity from you guys.

I’m not a hardcore AEW, I like all wrestling. It’s just good to have alternatives out there. Hell im going to NXT Portland next month. But the ratings are important for a start up like AEW, and to continually beat NXT on a comparable network is an achievement

LOL at ratings talk again.

Outdated Demos and whatnot.

Same old shit.
