Arya might as well sit on the throne then at this point.
Iâm hoping for Jamie killing Cersei. I think it would be the best outcome and have the most impact. I was think Arya before she killed the Night King, but now it would be too much.
Agreed. Itâs perhaps the most obvious, but I think sometimes the obvious route is the best storytelling, and thatâs the case here. I donât know how satisfied I would be otherwise. Jaime doesnât have to live, but I really feel like his entire character arc had built up to him killing Cersei, perhaps before he dies himself.
A great episode. As others have noted, I think a lot of the âproblemsâ are solved if we can get out from under our own expectations. I will agree that some of the main characters felt a little too safe, sort of like an Attitude Era four-way dance with Triple H, The Rock, Steve Austin and Kane⌠gee, I wonder whoâs eating the pin here?
Though if you were sitting next to my wife, the moment where Arya got caught by the throat by the Night King seemed to last about an hour. Great drama.
I loved the episode. Although most of the main characters lived, it swerved us because the big bad wasnât the night king. He was set up as the End Boss throughout the series, but it turns out that Cersei might be.
And the score was perfect. The episode would feel totally different without the music
This episode was the greatest thing Iâve seen on TV since I discovered porn channels were a thing.
RIP to lady MormontâŚshe was a real one.
RIP to Captain Friendzone.
And Arya motherfucking StarkâŚknew she was the one when she requested that blade.
And Theon growing some ballsâŚfigurativelyâŚbecauseâŚwell you know.
And RIP to the red ladyâŚshe sure came through in the clutch.
And since Iâm doing RIPsâŚhereâs a legit #RIPJohnSingelton Higher Leaning is one of my all time top 3 90s moviesâŚ51 is too young to go.
So Jon Snow fought the dead 3x before last night and yet he came up with the dumbest plan ever!! Got bailed out by his kid Sis in the best change of hands since Jordan in â91 (for the hoops fans here).
Why send 1000s of fighters into the fight when they will probably all die and then the Night King can raise them as his own. Jon was handing his own army to the enemy. And then had the âoh yeahâ look when he realized how bad he was out maneuvered. Jon is not fit to rule the thrown. He doesnât learn! Wants to play hero and isnât even good at it!
Otherwise - it lived up to the hype but too many missing explanations which is disappointing. What was the Red Lady (a wight?), where and what did Bran go do as a raven? How did only our heroâs survive - every main character outlived 1000s of dead. Theyâre all like Super Cena, never putting anyone over.
Arya is now immortalized. What a 24 hours for her. Seduces a guy and loses virginity, kills Night King. And shouts to Gen: banged a 190 yr old witch and a 22 year old assassin. Both of whom were the studs of the battle of Winterfell.
The first 10 minutes before the fighting even started was the most intense 10 minutes ever. It really set the tone for the episode. Iâll also gripe at the darkness even though it was making it legit. Yes it was night time and yes there isnât electricity. Still doesnât mean I have to like that lol.
I went from oh shit Bran is dead to oh shit Arya is gonna kill him to oh shit Arya is dead to holy fucking shit she killed the Night King!!! All within 30 seconds. Great episode and canât wait to see whatâs next
So many false finishes and kick outs. How about Night King absolutely no selling Drecaryus. Thatâs the new Taker laughing meme - when he smirks. He was a good super boss.
Did Bran know what was about to happen when Arya came thru. And where was his army to protect him. Not since the Mean Street Posey has their been weaker lackeys when needed. But seriously, was Bran going to let it all end right then and there? If not, he sacrifices a ton of people to get to that moment and I need to ask is Bran good?
The Night King smirking was the only thing which irked me about the episode. It felt a bit cheesy, out of place and would have been better if he was completely emotionless like heâd been the entirety of his other appearances. He didnât need to be humanised.
The whole episode was brilliant, but like many others have saidâŚthat opening 10-15 minutes setting the scene was just incredible.
I was also left pretty disappointed⌠I get that they wanted it to be chaotic and stuff, but I like to know whatâs happening in these huge battles⌠and for the first half of it it was so dark, and there were so many cuts, I could barely tell what was going on for most of it.
Plus I couldnât really tell what their plan was? I mean, for example - didnât Brianne and Jaime talk about being on the right flank last week? were they on the right flank then? What role did they serve?
The second half inside Winterfell was done a lot better⌠though I also wasnât a fan of the ending. Would have liked to have seen Arya making her way to the Night King or something⌠I dunno, the whole thing just seemed a bit cheap/lazy to me.
Also, this âgreat threat to civilizationâ got dealt with in their first big battle⌠so Cersi was right to stay home all along then?
So yeah, episode was alright, but I had hoped for moreâŚ
I mean they kind of had to go down in the first âbig battleâ (Thry killed a bunch of people at Hardhome, and presumably destroying the wall, and the Umbers). Unless the stratagem has been different with most of the main characters going south and leaving a smaller force to fight first it needed to end now. An army of the dead doesnât really lend itself to multiple battles of being repulsed in a siege.
I thought my TV was being screwy and had to Max out my brightness settingsâŚturns out I wasnât the only one.
Watching it again for the second time. Mostly because I started watching Raw and thought âI really have no interest in this productâ.
On first watch I thought that it was good but not great. There are great moments but it is tough to follow some of the action, though I think that was intentional in order to drive up the tension⌠However far more interesting, far more logical and far shorter than Raw.
I read a great not entirely serious article by some military historians discussing the âtactical errorsâ made by Jon and Daenerys in the planning of Winterfellâs defences.
Lol what was the plan before Mellisandre showed up? The Dothraki didnât have dragon glass weapons right? While Jon and Daenerys just watch them from on top of the mountain. Jorah must of been thinking âhow did I get stuck with the suicide squad?â
I think itâs safe to assume literally everyone had dragonglass weapons. Getting that dragonglass and forging weapons out of it was a major plot point and Daenerys wouldnât be sending her beloved Dothraki on a suicide missionâŚa suicide mission which wouldnât even serve any purpose.
Youâre probably right. I remember adjusting my brightness on my TV (I didnât know that it was a common issue of the episode) trying to see what was going on and I saw the Dothraki weapons and I thought âis that just their regular weapons?â
I mean, it was sort a suicide mission either way. Not much in the way of strategy for this battle unfortunately.
Iâm no war tactician, but yes just sending your cavalry in with no support other than fiery boulders does seem rather foolish. Whatever the actual full strategy was it went out of the window when Daenerys became distraught seeing the Dothraki get decimated and felt the need to actâŚwhich in turn led Jon to do the same.
If you were to really analyse the battle, it was full of bad and irrational decisions. They got their arses handed to them and lost, only for Arya to come and save the day with a single blow.
Everyone is talking about how bad the strategy was for the good guysâŚthe Night King literally didnât even have to be there and his side would have won. Why did he need to go after Bran in the middle of the damn war? He looks like a complete fool.
Maybe if defeating you, is the way to defeat your whole armyâŚit is probably best to stay back a bit.
