How can someone who isn't a Trump supporter watch UFC anymore ?

This was sort of buried in the other thread, but I think it deserves its own discussion. I’m having a hard time reconciling in my brain how I can continue to watch UFC. I know there’s lots of sports where owners support a political figure you don’t like – for instance, both Tony and and triple H probably support Trump and that’s fine – but this is like almost a love fest to him. He comes out like he’s a God, flanked by his idiot minions, and he’s pandered to by everyone including all of the fighters, even giving him the title belt. Like it’s getting to levels of worship that are bordering on a Diety showing up.

Watching this, I’m almost just stunned that I could give money to something like this and support it. So I’m having a very tough time in my brain reconciling this and I think at least for now I’m not going to give UFC any more money.

I’m wondering how others are feeling about this? Like again, I understand not letting the political leaning of something influence your ability to enjoy it, but when that person is all over the product and being worshipped like this, it’s different than just knowing that maybe Tony Khan donated a few hundred bucks to the campaign

Yeah, I agree. Which is why I have no problem with WWE or AEW or a lot of other sports teams who cares about their political affiliations because it isn’t draped all over your TV. UFC is the only one where it’s literally like if you don’t want to see a love fest for Donald Trump then you better not tune in.

Hey buddy. I see you just got here, but you might be lost. Let me help you out.

There, I think that’s what you’re looking for.

Lovely. Yeah, I messed up and gave you the weird engagement you’re looking for. Ignore!

It’s quite easy. Stream via alternative means and fast forward a lot.

I don’t watch UFC, so who knows how I would feel if it was actually something I enjoyed and wouldn’t necessarily want to stop following.

But yeah, there’s definitely a difference between HHH being a Republican and wrestlers supporting Trump on their social media vs. the way UFC celebrates him in the body of their actual programming. I don’t even want to see that treatment for a politician that I like, much less one that I don’t.

I stopped watching well before they worshipped the ground of this convicted felon and rapist. Probably because of the continued support for that bus-attacking douchebag Conor McGregor.

Also, I’ve become a lot more bored by MMA.

I’ll start by saying I’m part of the problem and I don’t really care that I am

When I watch sports of any kind I don’t care about sponsors, personal beliefs, political beliefs or any other radical takes

I’m never going to agree with everyone so I am watching for the love of the sport. Lots of people dedicate their lives to their craft and that’s why I watch and will always watch

This is what happened to me. MMA has proven that pro wrestling needs – to a certain extent – to be fake and look fake. Imagine watching a nine-match wrestling card and seven of the matches were just both guys working for the same submission hold. That’s what watching MMA felt like to me by the end of my viewership.

In the UK, it was PPV, I purchased it, didn’t enjoy it, I had the next day off, so it was an act of weakness.

It was nauseating, I am not ordering a U.S based UFC PPV again. Unless my countryman gets his shot at Jones

I know the Saudi shows have there issues but I can tolerate them. That’s how bad last night was.

However Charles Oliveira may be a new favourite fighter of mine, he just walked passed them, with it being alleged that it was deliberate.

Musk looked even more of an idiot, something I thought wasn’t possible.

It’s rather insulting that he gets a grand entrance. Should be for the fighters

Come to think of it Tom Aspinall should have insulted Jones’s new best friend.

May get the fight then

I don’t watch UFC anymore. Personally I try to ignore the politics in sports, but it’s definitely annoying how he’s treated like a god at their events.

I’ve been to one UFC show in my life, and I hated the experience. Douchebag city, not surprised by the love for trump by any stretch.

2005-2013 UFC was must see television every week. Even every PPV was full of star power and slug fests. Chuck Liddell, Tito Ortiz, Brock Lesnar, Chael Sonnen, Georges St-Pierre, etc. It was a magical time. These were larger than life fights, man. The LAW for many years would pick UFC as promotion of the year because they were doing pro wrestling better than pro wrestling.

The short answer is no, i can’t be a fan of UFC anymore and my MMA interest has dwindled significantly.
To me, the main issue/problem has always been Dana White. Joe Rogan has only got worse and worse as a commentator and a human being.
To me, MMA used to be the most pure and entertaining sport, but it’s now no better than the Jake Paul freak show garbage.
I felt bad when I quit watching a few years ago, as I really loved the sport, but seeing the scenes this past weekend, I’m out for now.

A lot of people just don’t care.

Most people only care about themselves, maybe their community and immediate family.

I still watch because I tune out everything outside bell to bell. But it’s severely damaged my engagement with the product.

Unfortunately the bottom line is, unless it affects the bottom line of TKO and/or the PPV distributors, they won’t stop.

Even then it would just be toned down

Somewhat related, I’m getting a kick out of the faux outrage over HHH shaking hands with Trump. Especially when this photo already exists.

If you’re THAT triggered by somebody’s political views and you’re still watching pro wrestling (or MMA, or basically any pro sport if you take team owners into account), you’re already a hypocrite. No pearl clutching needed.
