The first match for New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Resurgence show on August 14th has been announced.

Jay White and David Finlay will meet once again but this go-around will be for the NEVER Openweight Championship. This forthcoming bout will be the sixth singles match between Finlay and White. Their first match took place in February of 2016.

Along with White and Finlay, IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Champion Jon Moxley, Lio Rush pending his shoulder injury, Shota Umino, STRONG Openweight Champion Tom Lawlor and more are being promoted for the show.

Several days after Resurgence, NJPW will be welcoming fans to a STRONG taping for the first time since the show launched.

Although it hasn’t really had the chance to gain traction, I really like the renewed White/ Finlay rivalry. Have Finlay go over in the New Japan Cup made it feel like there was more to tell in their story.
