John Layfield began his career in the WWF/WWE in the mid-90s. After a few years in the company, he formed a duo with fellow WWE Hall Of Famer Ron Simmons and they captured the WWF Tag Team Championships on three separate occasions together. In 2004, Layfield debuted the “JBL” character and embarked on a run as WWE Champion shortly after.

His last match as a full-time competitor took place at WrestleMania 25 where he fell in defeat to Rey Mysterio but he made a return in 2014 for the Royal Rumble match. Layfield worked as a commentator on RAW and SmackDown for a number of years.

During his appearance on WWE Backstage, Layfield stated that it was Vince McMahon who informed him of his induction and after two decades as a part of the sports-entertainment company, he’s now going into the WWE Hall Of Fame.

He will not be inducted by Mauro Ranallo. We know that.
