Jim Ross will be taking time off from his AEW broadcasting duties as the Hall of Fame announcer goes through radiation treatment.

Ross closed Wednesday’s edition of Dynamite by wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and saying, “I’ll see you all in the very near future”.

On Thursday, Ross confirmed that he will be missing at least the next four weeks of broadcasts while he goes through 22 radiation treatments beginning this Monday.

Due to my skin cancer care totaling 22 radiation treatments starting Monday, I will hopefully return to the announce desk on December 29 in Jacksonville.

@TonyKhan supports me on this strategy which has been a blessing.

My thanks for all your support. 🙏🤠

In a tweet, Ross said he is hopeful of returning for the December 29th episode from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida.

AEW President Tony Khan tweeted a response after Ross’ announcement:

JR, everyone here at @AEW wishes you the best. I think it’s a great gameplan you’ve got, we look forward to your return to commentary, hopefully in your new hometown Jacksonville FL @dailysplace at New Year’s Smash at the end of December! We want you to kick the cancer’s ass, JR!

Ross underwent a procedure this past Monday to have two spots removed from his back.

It is unknown who the broadcast team will consist of in Ross’ absence.

We wish Ross all the best as he undergoes radiation treatment and we are hoping for a speedy and full recovery.
