Jim Ross has announced that he will step away from his duties while he heals from injuries sustained in a fall.

He also apologized for how he sounded on the debut broadcast of AEW Collision on Saturday night.

Despite the fall, which Ross sustained on Friday, the 71-year-old still made it to the United Center in Chicago for the live broadcast.

However, as well as a badly blackened eye, Ross’ voice was affected as he sounded hoarse on the broadcast.

After Saturday’s broadcast, he commented:

I apologize for the way I sounded tonight. Going to step away to heal. Thanks for your support.

Along with Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuinness, Ross was announced as part of the commentary team for Collision on Friday.

Ross has been with AEW since its launch and was featured weekly on Dynamite until transitioning to Rampage over the past year. He also features on the promotion’s pay-per-views.

It is unknown how long his recovery will take, nor whether he will be temporarily replaced during his absence.

We at POST Wrestling wish Jim Ross a speedy and full recovery.

Poor guy, he’s went through a lot. The second he began speaking last night, it was obvious something was wrong. Hope he rests up and can come back at 100%.
