One notable absence from the upcoming New Japan Cup USA tournament is Juice Robinson, who is out of action due to a leg injury with New Japan providing an update on his status:

Juice Robinson has suffered an injury to his right leg and is currently unable to compete.

As a result of his injury, Robinson will not be competing on forthcoming NJPW STRONG broadcasts, which start August 7 when LEC presents New Japan Cup USA.

We apologize to fans who are looking forward to seeing Robinson wrestle. We appreciate your understanding, and wish Juice the best in his recovery.

Robinson was featured in the New Japan’s online announcement alongside David Finlay, who will be part of the tournament that kicks off this Friday as part of its NJPW Strong series that will air Friday nights at 10 pm Eastern.

The three-week tournament will be an eight-man single-elimination tournament with the opening round matches scheduled for Friday, August 7th. The winner of the tournament will receive a future opportunity for the IWGP United States championship, which is currently held by Jon Moxley.

Robinson has held the IWGP United States title twice and last wrestled in February prior to New Japan shutting down its live events during the pandemic.
