A new challenger for Raquel Gonzalez comes forward.
Raquel Gonzalez has been reigning as NXT Women’s Champion since TakeOver: Stand & Deliver in April. That reign continued coming out of TakeOver 36 as she defeated her former partner Dakota Kai.
The match came to an end after Raquel hit her signature ‘Fireman’s Cutter’ off the middle rope to put Kai away. That was the move Raquel hit on Tegan Nox at TakeOver: Portland which kicked off the partnership between Kai and Gonzalez. As she was celebrating her win, former NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray appeared.
Kay Lee Ray stood on the entrance ramp and stared down Raquel. The 29-year-old Kay Lee Ray last wrestled on WWE programming on a June edition of NXT UK during which she lost the NXT UK Women’s Title to Meiko Satomura.

Lee Ray’s NXT UK Women’s Title reign began at TakeOver: Cardiff in 2019 and nearly hit the two-year mark.
Her last appearance for NXT in the U.S. was in January 2020 when she, Io Shirai and Bianca Belair took on Toni Storm, Rhea Ripley and Candice LeRae.
