In Kenny Omega’s first interview since returning to AEW, he is asking fans to “let go” of the issue involving CM Punk.

Omega spoke with Justin Barrasso of SI.com days after Full Gear and The Elite’s on-screen return after being suspended following the events of All Out in September.

Omega acknowledged that they are not able to disclose additional information in keeping with the company’s strategy of not acknowledging the incident or publicly disclosing the suspensions.

There are things no one can talk about, so I’d encourage people to let it go. It doesn’t change that we want a team effort in AEW. I don’t even mean implicitly myself and my opponent. It also means the referee, the fans, the people who set up the ring, everyone–even a technical error can ruin the memory of a match. I can refer back to the exploding barbed wire death match. So I encourage people to move away from it because there is no information to be released. Though I cannot talk about it, I do want the fans to know I still want the best for pro wrestling.

Omega missed most of the year due to a laundry list of injuries and returned in August to participate in the Trios Championship tournament. After CM Punk’s press conference, Omega & The Young Bucks went to Punk’s locker room where an altercation went down, and all parties were sent home. Punk’s future with the company is unknown while producer Ace Steel was quietly let go by the company.

Omega and The Young Bucks will be wrestling on Dynamite tonight, which takes place in Punk’s hometown of Chicago.

Omega added in the interview:

This isn’t Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks against CM Punk. It is people trying to show off their craft. You can boo Kenny Omega, or the Young Bucks, or CM Punk, but I hope people don’t forget we’re human beings struggling to show our art.

You know the fans are acting like jackasses when even the person they are “defending” tells them to stop. Good on Omega for speaking out, hopefully the fans take his advice.

Contradicts what was shown on Being the Elite, with the Fuck CM Punk chants isolated.

Maybe the elite differ in their opinions on this??? How was it referenced on BTE?

I definitely think it’s a difference in opinion.

It’s like I said, BTE isolated the chants during the recap of the Death Triangle-Elite match, whereas the rest of the recap had music played over it.

Ok, so he’s trolling essentially. Ya, these guys are just not the type of people to push a person to a breaking point.

With that said, if they have reconciled and this is leading to an angle, go for it!
