NJPW and ROH related topics discussed by Kevin Kelly.

From early 2010 to 2017, Kevin Kelly was a commentator for Ring of Honor. The year that Kelly began his role, current WWE producer Adam Pearce was the head booker.

Pearce took on the role in 2008 and he was out of the position by August 2010. As Kevin was doing a virtual signing for 80’s Wrestling, he stated that Pearce was able to grow from the mistakes he made as ROH booker.

Kelly added that Pearce did not react well to certain situations that inevitably cost him his job, but he became better and smarter and complimented him on his tenure with WWE.

Adam Pearce made some mistakes when he was in charge of Ring of Honor’s booking and didn’t react well to certain situations that inevitably cost him his job in Ring of Honor. But he learned from those mistakes, he got better, he got smarter and now he’s been in WWE for well over a decade and he’s doing great.

Kevin is the current English play-by-play announcer for New Japan Pro-Wrestling. He touched on the potential of Oleg Boltin, who is a Young Lion that was recruited by Yuji Nagata. Kevin believes Oleg can be world champion and there’s potential for him to be a Brock Lesnar-type talent.

There’s a guy and he’s not a kid, he’s 30 years old, Kazakhstan Freestyle wrestler named Oleg Boltin but he’ll be known as Boltin Oleg because of the way his name is said in Japanese. He can be the world champion. He can be Brock Lesnar, can be. We’ll see. He’s a project. Everything looks pretty good thus far, but, it’s way too soon to tell.

Kelly was on the call for NJPW’s Sakura Genesis event on April 8th and to check out POST Wrestling’s recap of that event, click here
