Takeshita surveys the field.

July 20th is the start date for New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s G1 Climax 34 tournament. The company’s official website is rolling out content to promote the tournament and their latest piece was an interview with Konosuke Takeshita.

Takeshita is going to be in the B block. When asked who he’d like to meet in the playoffs or final of the tournament, one of the names he mentioned is STRONG Openweight Champion Gabe Kidd.

He’s sure Kidd is probably a ‘nightmare’ for standards and practices types, but that’s the type of wrestler Takeshita liked to watch as a kid.

Gabe Kidd would be interesting too (to face). I haven’t had the time to be as up on watching everything recently, but I still hear Gabe Kidd’s name coming up as someone with a lot of buzz. I’m sure he’s a nightmare for the standards and practices types in the company, but that’s the kind of wrestler I always enjoyed watching as a kid. I’d enjoy beating him up as well.
