WWE has made several announcements regarding this week’s episode of NXT including Kurt Angle being utilized on the program.
On Saturday, it was stated that Angle will serve as the special referee for the cage match between Matt Riddle and Timothy Thatcher. This will be Angle’s first appearance with WWE since he was included the releases and furloughs last month. PWinsider.com has noted this is a similar situation to Drake Maverick where Angle is still on his 90-day no-compete period and is being used by the company.
They have also announced that Charlotte Flair will team with a mystery partner to face Io Shirai & Rhea Ripley this Wednesday.
Last week, Flair interrupted the match between Shirai and Ripley leading to the announcement Friday of a triple threat match for the NXT women’s title at TakeOver: In Your House on Sunday, June 7th.
This week’s NXT also featured a match with Drake Maverick vs. KUSHIDA vs. Jake Atlas with the winner advancing to face El Hijo del Fantasma in the finals of the Interim Cruiserweight Title tournament.
