NXT Cruiserweight Champion KUSHIDA has confirmed that his recent absence from television was a result of testing positive for COVID-19.

The performer posted a video update on Instagram noting that he tested positive for COVID-19 three weeks ago. This led to his advertised match against Roderick Strong being changed for the August 17th edition of the show with KUSHIDA replaced by Ilja Dragunov.

KUSHIDA added that his family also tested positive but said that everyone is okay, and he and his wife were fully vaccinated. They did experience some symptoms including low energy and losing his sense of smell and taste, but everyone is feeling better now. He emphasized that the pandemic is not over and encouraged everyone to stay safe.

KUSHIDA last appeared on the July 23rd edition of 205 Live wrestling Ari Sterling, which was taped several days prior.

Iā€™m glad he and his family are feeling better. It sucks that these positive cases are still coming up (Brody King nearly missing the last two ROH shows last month because of it), but at least these guys all seem to be vaccinated and have a level of protection.
