Prior to a Warrior Wrestling event several weeks ago, Lance Archer was last in action on New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s New Beginning USA tour. Archer had the opportunity to defend the IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Championship against Jon Moxley at Wrestle Kingdom 14 last month and fell in defeat to Moxley.

In a press release issued by AEW, Lance Archer had the following to say about joining the company:

“I’ve been in the business for almost half of my life, but with AEW, I’m setting my sights on the best chapter of my career so far. This company champions the creative, competitive and electrifying environment that I’ve been waiting for my whole career. No matter where I go—no matter who steps in front of me—I’m the one you should be afraid of at AEW.”

Archer spent the majority of his last three years in wrestling with New Japan and while it’s not known if he will continue working with the company or not, he was able to win a Tag League tournament, the U.S. Title and captured the IWGP Tag Team Titles on three separate occasions with Davey Boy Smith Jr.

Great signing,AEW getting stronger and stronger.

Could he cost Moxley the title at Revolution?

Hope so,Moxley doesn’t need the belt.Jericho and the circle need the belt more.

Archer is going to literally tower over the AEW roster. He’s going to be a huge star and we know he can meet the high bar of AEW’s in ring work.

I was thinking he could be somebody who actually aligns with Moxley.

Archer has done an incredible job of reinventing himself this past year.

His G1 performances were really tremendous and he was absolutely 100% compelling from the time he came through the curtain between his look and his wild new moveset.

I love his revamped look and moveset, and I feel like there’s a great chance he can stand out as a big player on the AEW roster. He’s literally been working constantly with the best 10 guys in the world for the past few years, and he’s totally fresh in North America.

It’s really great to see him get a long term deal- I hope he gets to save a good chunk of cash and live comfortably.

He’s almost 43 but he’s a tremendous athlete and doesn’t look or work his age. He has incredible speed and that makes everything he does more impactful.
