Travel issues affected Monday’s King of Pro Wrestling card with two performers unable to make it to Tokyo for their matches.

New Japan announced that Jon Moxley and Zack Sabre Jr. would be unable to make it to the show due to the travel issues resulting from the effects of Typhoon Hagibis.

The card was changed with Moxley being stripped of the IWGP United States championship and replaced by Lance Archer against Juice Robinson. The two had a fifteen-minute match, resulting in Archer winning the vacant title after a Blackout onto a set of chairs followed by the EBD Claw.

After the match, Archer continued to attack Robinson until the returning David Finlay ran in to save Robinson. Finlay has not wrestled since February and underwent surgery for a torn labrum prior to the New Japan Cup that he was forced to withdraw from.

Archer becomes the sixth person to hold the United States title since it was introduced in July 2017. Moxley won the title from Robinson this past June at Sumo Hall.

The rest of the show was shuffled with minor changes after Zack Sabre Jr. was removed from a scheduled six-man tag that Archer was also part of.

During Archer’s very good performance in the G1 I was thinking he’s the perfect guy to be their US Champion.

And I’m glad it’s off Moxley to reduce the scheduling conflicts of the title.

Makes me think Juice may not have been scheduled to win to begin with. The audible was too well done.
