WWE is taping their Christmas day edition of SmackDown on 12/22 from the ThunderDome at Tropicana Field. Previously announced for the show was Sami Zayn defending his Intercontinental Championship against Big E. A stipulation has been added to their match and it will be contested under Lumberjack rules.

Big E earned the title shot by pinning Zayn in a eight-man tag match on the TLC pay-per-view Kickoff show. Big E and Zayn have been intertwined in a feud over the past several months and E is now getting his shot at the gold.

The Intercontinental Title match is one of three title bouts scheduled for the 12/25 episode of SmackDown. Universal Champion Roman Reigns is defending the title against Kevin Owens inside a Steel Cage. Reigns defeated Owens in a TLC match this past Sunday but Jey Uso consistently got involved in the match and assisted Reigns to victory.

Also, the newly-crowned WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Charlotte Flair and RAW Women’s Champion Asuka are appearing on SmackDown to defend their titles after winning them from Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler at TLC.

As usual with Vince’s decisions, I am going to ask “Would you care to explain why ?”

Nope. No explanation, ever.

Probably because Sami Zayn always tries to get the cheap way to win; either to goad his opponent into getting counted out or just trying to run away himself to save his title.

I hope they say that. It makes sense.
