As for The Hardys’ future, Matt said it’s important they be utilized in the right way.

On The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt has provided updates on his status with All Elite Wrestling. The latest on that front is that he was offered a new deal for ‘a few years’ as his current deal is coming up.

Hardy was the most recent guest to sit down with Chris Van Vliet for an interview and it was mentioned that with WWE WrestleMania 40 coming up and there being a tag team Ladder match on the card, could there be a possibility that Matt and Jeff head back to the company.

Matt thinks it’s great that people speculate about that and it gets him excited. He said ‘never say never’ in the wrestling business.

It’s great that people think that (Jeff & I could make another surprise appearance at WrestleMania). That makes me happy it makes people excited. If you hear someone talk about a Ladder match, ‘Are they gonna show up?’ And that’s great. So, I don’t know. It’s pro wrestling and in pro wrestling, never say never.

As far as The Hardys’ future, Matt wants to make sure they are being utilized properly and he explained what that entails:

What’s important to me, I think more than anything else right now, it’s just like the legacy of Jeff (Hardy) and I, because we do get that we get mentioned in the conversation of the greatest tag team ever and we want to help younger teams, we want to build teams. But also, you have to be put into a position to succeed where you do seem relevant, where you do seem like you’re at the top of your game. You can’t just go out there and get beat every single week. So it’s very important to me that we’re utilized in the right way, so that when we do have a program with someone and we build to a big match and when they beat us, then it means something. Because if you just get beat without reason, it doesn’t really mean anything.

He went on to state that he thinks The Hardys’ legacy as a tag team could be cemented with another Tag Title run somewhere. He added that Jeff is currently in one of the best stages of his life.

I think a legacy (for The Hardys) could be completed, like a good run as Tag Team Champions somewhere else where we have good quality matches, especially working with guys that we are smartly booked against. Because Jeff right now is in one of the best stages of his life that he’s ever been in and this is throughout the entirety of his wrestling career. He’s just got everything together in his personal life, which is really good and he’s also a maniac now that he’s in this position. He gets up every morning at 5 AM and he does cardio for an hour. That’s just kind of what he does and that’s his drill. But he’s also taking really good care of himself, you know? And he’s got it together. So I think between him and I kind of going through this midlife transformation and trying to be in the best shape that we can possibly be, I do think there’s legs in us being successful as a tag team, wherever it may be.

The duo have not tagged together since the January 5th edition of AEW Rampage where they were part of a trio with Mark Briscoe.
