It has been a full year since Gage’s AEW debut.
During the summer of 2021, Chris Jericho had to overcome a series of obstacles on-screen that was referred to as ‘Labours of Jericho’. One of those ‘labours’ was two-time GCW World Champion Nick Gage.
Gage was introduced onto AEW television by MJF. Gage was a guest on ‘Rewind Recap Relive’ and revealed that it was MJF who pitched for him to be one of the ‘labours of Jericho’. Jericho had seen Nick’s episode of Dark Side of the Ring and loved the idea. Gage described MJF as one of his good friends.
Oh yeah, MJF is one of my good friends Jericho watched my — of course he narrates the Dark Side of the Ring so he watched that and he just loved my episode and MJF pitched, ‘How about bringing Nick Gage in?’ And they both loved it and it was great.
Following his match, Gage received stitches but initially said he did not need it. Britt Baker sat with him while he was being stitched up and then he talked to Adam Cole who congratulated him over the phone for his AEW in-ring debut.
I got a little cut and they sent me to — I never had this before. They sent me to the doctors in the back to give me stitches. You get a cut on the independent scene, you gotta roll that up, some duct tape or put a bandage on it and keep that shut. I was like, ‘I’m good guys. You don’t have to stitch me up.’ ‘No, sit down, stitch up.’ It was cool man and Britt Baker, that’s my girl so after the match, I was in there, she was sitting in there with me and everybody knows her boyfriend and he called me up and just congratulated me.
After four months way from AEW programming, MJF made his return at the conclusion of All Out. He is scheduled to speak on the 9/7 Dynamite.
