John Pollock & Wai Ting review both nights of NJPW Wrestle Grand Slam in MetLife Dome featuring the return of Kota Ibushi, major title bouts, STARDOM matches, and the announcements of a 3-night Wrestle Kingdom and this year’s G1 Climax 31 participants.

They discuss New Japan’s ongoing struggles with pandemic-crowds, its fractured roster, and over-reliance on 30min matches to fill out its events.

Also: Hiromu Takahashi vs. Robbie Eagles for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight title, Sanada/Naito vs. Dangerous Tekkers vs. Goto/Yoshi-Hashi for the IWGP Tag Titles, Jeff Cobb vs. Kazuchika Okada, and a Toru Yano vs. Chase Owens KOPW No DQ I Quit match that lasted an inexplicable 28 minutes.

Wai discusses last night’s GCW The Art of War Games featuring Jon Moxley’s surprise victory over Matt Cardona for the GCW Championship.

Regarding Kevin Kelly, I believe he was in Japan already, but had to do commentary from this remote location (presumably a hotel room) because he was quarantining.

Ah, that’s very interesting and would excuse why his internet quality was so poor compared to previous broadcasts.
