NXT’s return with a live episode on Tuesday failed to spike its numbers as the show dropped from the last two weeks of taped programming.

The October 4th edition of the show averaged 625,000 viewers and approximately 170,000 (0.13) in the 18-49 demographic, according to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics and Showbuzz Daily.

Overall viewership was down by 5% and the 18-49 demo fell by 16% from last week’s taped show. NXT ranked #30 among cable originals on Tuesday, which was led by BET’s Hip Hop Awards, which began at 9 p.m. ET.

NXT aired against back-to-back NBA exhibition games on TNT that finished #14 and #15.

It was NXT’s lowest overall audience since August 9th and the lowest 18-49 number since July 26th.

NXT’s demos were all over the place with male viewership in the 18-49 demo increasing by 69% after a low number last week but was down from two weeks ago. Female viewership in the demo declined by 57% from last week and was a three-week low in that category for NXT.

NXT fell 22% among adults 18-34 and was their lowest in that demo since August 9th.

Adults 35-49 were down by 1% and adults 50+ grew 6% this week.

Tuesday’s episode was headlined by Ridge Holland & Butch appearing on the show and challenging Pretty Deadly for the NXT tag titles, which included an eight-minute overrun segment.

In Canada, NXT averaged 56,000 viewers and 32,000 in the 25-54 demographic, which are up from last week’s figures of 42,000 and 15,000 respectively on Sportsnet 360.
