In its second week running unopposed on Tuesday nights, NXT experienced another increase with viewership and the main demographic.

NXT finished 27th on Tuesday’s cable charts with a 0.23 in the 18-49 demographic with 840,000 viewers on the USA Network. Those were improvements from last week’s figures of 0.22 in the key demo and 805,000 viewers for the episode following TakeOver: Stand & Deliver and WrestleMania 37.

The increase occurs despite heavy news coverage on Tuesday with reaction to the guilty charge against former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin for the death of George Floyd last year.

Of the key demos monitored by Showbuzz Daily, all were either even or showed increases compared with last week’s ratings. The largest gain was among females 12-34 that increased by 12.5 percent.

In Canada, the show once again failed to crack the top ten sports broadcasts on Tuesday meaning it fell below 81,400 viewers.

They gotta be feeling pretty optimistic after this result. Got some slack here with this number going up, the boost from news not being an issue most weeks, and they really haven’t built up anything special yet that has gotten good promotion (let alone doing any sort of themed show). ~900K seems like a reasonable goal to peak at now, which will make this move ultimately worth it, even if AEW stays above 1M.

With very little being promoted for the show to get non-regulars tuning in, I thought there would be a bit of it dip. Glad I was wrong.

Was thinking, are WWE actually happy about this or are they lamenting the fact it’s not on Wednesday

They have Raw and SmackDown. NXT doing poorly or well in the ratings won’t significantly affect WWE either way. I’m pretty confident in saying Vince would prefer that NXT was just used a stumbling block for AEW especially as its more of a Triple H project than his.
