Orange Cassidy vs. Trent Beretta made official for AEW Double or Nothing

Originally published at Orange Cassidy vs. Trent Beretta made official for AEW Double or Nothing

The former best friends to clash at Double or Nothing.

The trio of Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta and Chuck Taylor came to an end when Beretta attacked Cassidy on an April edition of AEW Dynamite.

Coming out of that, it led to Beretta defeating Taylor in a Parking Lot Fight and it was stated on commentary that Taylor is navigating a potential career-ending injury.

The next chapter in the story is set as it’ll be Orange Cassidy going one-on-one with Trent at Double or Nothing. With the addition of that bout, here’s the updated lineup:

  • AEW TBS Championship: Willow Nightingale (c) vs. Mercedes Moné
  • AEW International Championship: Roderick Strong (c) vs. Will Ospreay
  • AEW Women’s World Championship: ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm (c) (w/ Luther & Mariah May) vs. Serena Deeb
  • AEW World Championship: Swerve Strickland (c) vs. Christian Cage (w/ Killswitch, Nick Wayne & Mother Wayne)
  • Anarchy in the Arena: The Elite (Matthew Jackson, Nicholas Jackson, Kazuchika Okada & Jack Perry) vs. Bryan Danielson, Dax Harwood, Darby Allin & Cash Wheeler
  • AEW TNT Championship — Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match: Adam Copeland (c) vs. Malakai Black
  • IWGP World Heavyweight Championship Eliminator Match: Jon Moxley vs. Konosuke Takeshita
  • Trent Beretta vs. Orange Cassidy

Cassidy already beat Trent clean on Dynamite. This creative is going backwards

Except he didn’t beat Trent clean. He used an exposed turnbuckle after Trent attempted to use one first. Trent used this as ammunition in his promo calling Orange a sociopath and a worse wrestler than he is, so the challenge was for a straight wrestling match.

The babyface going over on TV shouldn’t lead to a PPV rematch - babyface winning is the end of the story. I don’t understand the story they’re trying to tell here. Again, this is bad creative.

There have been rematches to matches where the face has won the first one. Two of them are getting covered on the next Rewind-A-Wai on Extreme Rules 2012.

It’s not that good, but…

Don Callis has latched himself onto Orange. They’ve had discussions, but we don’t know what they’re about, and Orange hasn’t brought up Callis. It’s thought that Orange using the exposed turnbuckle was some influence from Callis, or it was just tit-for-tat with Trent. Also, Trent and Orange continued fighting after their first match.

Oh I know the story. It just sucks though. Bad creative and I don’t think there is any interest in the match at DON.

I was just about to post that I’m not really looking forward to DoN coz I’ve barely watched any wrestling for a month now but I’ve looked at the line up and it looks awesome.

This may be the least exciting match on the card but I’m sure it’ll deliver

The OC/Trent story continues to be booked backwards. It should have started with Trent reluctantly joining the Don Callis family because he had no one else.

Then you can get the tease where he pretends to rejoin OC and that leads to a swerve as he fully turns heel and embraces the dark side.

Instead we got weeks of Trent losing and Callis hinting that he signed OC. None of it made any sense. And kayfabe wise, why would Callis want Trent? He lost to OC several times.

It’s a “story” told backwards and poorly. Now we will get a build to another OC and Trent match that no one wants.
