**Johnny Evans, who was better known to wrestling fans Reginald Love of the Love Brothers tag team, passed away on Sunday morning at the age of 90. The Love Brothers tag team consisted of Reginald (Evans) and Hartford Love (Wes Hutchings). The two started their careers off separately and were put together by promoters Johnny Powers and Pedro Martinez in Buffalo as a pair of hippies with a heavy psychedelic vibe to their presentation. As a heel tag team, the two drew enormous heat and spent most of their careers in Southern Ontario and in the Northeast U.S although they did travel around. Evans continued until back problems ultimately ended his in-ring career and he transitioned into acting. Evans had been in a nursing home over the past number of year and was suffering from dementia. Greg Oliver has a story on Evans’ passing on the SLAM website with several of his own stories involving Evans.
**Tonight’s episode of Raw takes place from the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee. Brock Lesnar is back on tonight’s show with three episodes to go until the Royal Rumble. The only match that has been announced ahead of time is Enzo defending the Cruiserweight title against Cedric Alexander. Tonight’s show will also feature the return of The Miz following the completion of filming for “The Marine 6: Close Quarters”.
**The latest team to be announced for the WWE’s “Mixed Match Challenge” is The Miz and Asuka. They join the previous announces teams that consist of: Braun Strowman and Alexa Bliss, Nia Jax and Apollo Crews, Bobby Roode and Charlotte, Jimmy Uso and Naomi, Rusev and Lana and the team of Finn Balor and Sasha Banks.
**Michael Elgin has issued a statement and an apology regarding inappropriate actions over the last number of months. Elgin stated he was approached in 2017 and alerted to “a situation involving sexual impropriety involving two individuals”. Elgin said he did not know how to handle the situation and encouraged one of the parties to report it to the proper authorities. The allegations were made public last month with the belief Elgin should have taken further action at the time he was first alerted. Elgin goes on in the statement to acknowledge his inappropriate conversations with the female involved.
**The North Carolina based CWF Mid-Atlantic group issued a statement on Sunday night regarding their head booker and lead announcer Brad Stutts:
CWF Mid-Atlantic recently learned that Brad Stutts has been engaging in what we believe is “inappropriate behavior”. The behavior attributed to Stutts does not align with the standards and values of CWF Mid-Atlantic. We have reviewed the matter and, as a result, have severed ties.
Stutts was the voice of the promotion alongside Cecil Miller with the promotion producing a weekly YouTube show, which has a very strong local following with a territorial feel from the late 80s. On a national level, Stutts was also featured in many of Broken Matt Hardy’s segments on Impact Wrestling as “The Scribe”. Stutts has not commented yet on the allegations or his removal from the promotion. Cecil Miller did issue the following comments after the news of Stutts broke:
Just be patient with me for the next few shows, guys. My role in the booth will be different going forward, and I’ll do my best to give you the quality you expect. CWF and Worldwide aren’t going anywhere. We all love this company and this business, and will continue to give you the best episodic wrestling show there is. Lastly, just for my own piece of mind, please respect my desire to be diplomatic in this. A few people have reached out to me, but I don’t feel comfortable discussing the matter at this time.
POST Wrestling has reached out to Brad Stutts and offered him the opportunity to release a statement but have yet to hear back from him.
**IPW U.K has announced a big match for their upcoming card on Wednesday, January 17th in Milton Keynes as IWGP junior heavyweight champion Will Ospreay will take on WWE U.K champion Pete Dunne.
**Jinny became the Revolution Pro women’s champion on Sunday at the ‘Live at the Cockpit 25’ show. Jinny defeated Millie McKenzie in the semi-finals earlier in the show to advance to the final and won the championship by defeating Deonna Purrazzo.
**Lance Storm began his 38th training session at the Storm Wrestling Academy on Monday. Storm launched his school in September 2005 and it has grown to become one of the most highly recommended wrestling schools in the world. Among those that have come out of the school, include Tenille Dashwood (Emma), Tyler Breeze, Peyton Royce, Chelsea Green (Laurel Van Ness), Oney Lorcan, Taya Valkyrie and Australian Suicide among others.
**The WWE stock closed at $31.30 on Monday.
